Anti-scald valves are set to become a standard feature in all new bathrooms, with legislation expected in the autumn. The valves, which are also known as thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) blend hot and cold water to deliver hot water at safe temperatures for baths and other outlets. Valves for use in domestic situations need to comply with TMV2 and in recent years anti-scald valves from an increasing number of manufacturers have reached that standard. This is to combat the 20 deaths and almost 600 serious injuries caused by bathtime scalding each year.
